July 5, 2008 - Bowness Parade well attended
A wagonload of fun on a sunny day greeted the parishioners who rode in this year's Bowness Stampede Parade float. Once again, Anderson and Sons Construction Ltd. donated the use of one of their trailers which was decorated with flowers and St. Edmunds' banners. The participants tossed 4 three-gallon containers worth of wrapped candy to the crowds that lined Bowness Road.

The Men of the Light Brigade have struck again; this time with paint and rollers in the lower hall. After a hearty breakfast at Denny’s, we descended upon the church hall for a morning of camaraderie and work. What an amazing energy there is with turquoise on the lower section of the wall and a lighter tone above! The light in the hall is now so bright and cheerfull. Thank you, Tom (foreman), Richard, David, Max, Clyde, Deacon Ed, Tessa, Teresa and Terry for giving up a Saturday morning to paint.
The Annual General Meeting - February 10, 2008
The 2008 AGM was held after the service on Feb. 10 and was attended by the majority of parishioners. The outreach and program reports indicated that our ministry is growing in the community and touching more people and community agencies each year. Financially, the books are balanced and show a slight surplus which will be used to expand our programs in 2008.
Of note is that 2009 will be the 75th anniversary of Critchley Mission/St. Edmund's in Bowness. We are beginning celebration preparations and are interested to hear from former members and family members about their history with St. Edmund's. We are looking for photos and artifacts to copy and display at the church during 2009. We look forward to an excitiing year!!

The Men of the Light Brigade, a fellowship of men from the parish, stand together after a morning of replacing the original lighting fixtures in the church. Two of the new lights can be seen hanging above them. The round globes are old wall sconces.
January 2008
In January, St. Edmund’s was honoured to become home to a Calgary Highlanders’ camp flag. The Canadian mission in Afghanistan has touched our parish family in a personal way and the flag will become a focus for our prayers for the safety of the men and women on that mission. Our prayers for world peace will continue and will now include the members of the Calgary Highlanders -
